Built in 1850, St Duthus is quietly situated in the village of Halkirk approximately 6 miles from Thurso, just off the North Coast 500 route. Set in extensive gardens, there is plenty of parking space plus indoor facility for bicycles, motorbikes and sports/wet gear generally. Halkirk is well-placed for touring the scenic North Highlands and for an overnight stay on the way to Orkney.
The stone-built house, a former manse (vicarage), offers spacious accommodation in a homely environment:-
1 ground floor twin room (4’ beds) with en suite shower room
1 first floor double room (king size bed) with adjacent private bathroom
Guests have the option of Bed & Breakfast or Room Only. We offer either a Full Cooked or Light Breakfast at a time to suit you. Complimentary refreshments upon arrival, and evening snacks can be provided 6-7pm. Lunch and evening meals can be found within 5 minutes’ walk.
Among several village amenities there are a convenience store (hot drinks and sandwiches), pub, post office (with cash withdrawal facility), and garage (not petrol). Riverside Walk for a stroll at any time. Salmon/trout fishing (permit required). A bus service is in operation. Halkirk Highland Games always the last Saturday in July.
