The cottage is just 15 minutes from Glencoe with its atmospheric mountains and Glencoe Ski Centre. Within an hour you can reach Oban, gateway to the Isles, and Fort William on the way to Skye or Loch Ness. There are over 25 Munros (mountains over 3000ft) within a 10 mile radius - and 2 famous Munros on the doorstep.
The beautiful River Orchy is just 3 minutes walk away and is one of Scotland's best salmon fishing rivers and popular with white water rafting enthusiasts. There are always interesting birds in the garden, and the occassional visiting deer. The local hotel is just a few minutes away for meals or drinks. You can get here by road, just off the main A82, or by train, with services from Glasgow and a daily sleeper service from London.
Taransay Cottage was built in 1901 by the Caledonian Railway Company, extended in 1986 and renovated in 2015.
