Tenko is a very well equipped chalet situated on the edge of the Strand Loch, providing an ideal base for exploring all parts of Shetland. Only 8 mins from the town of Lerwick, the Islands capital, where you can dine, shop, find sport and leisure facilities, cinema, arts centre, community centre, museum and historical sites such as the Broch at Clickimin.
The chalet is open plan with sitting, dining and kitchen areas - here you can sit back in this peaceful setting and relax and enjoy the view over the loch watching trout jump or families of swans and ducks. In the simmer dim evenings you may be privileged to watch otters frolic on the shoreline. Angling enthusiasts just need to step outside the door to fish. Walkers and cyclists are welcome and cycles can be stored safely.
Within the property there is an en suite double bedroom, a small double bedroom and a single bedroom. In the living area there are two leather sofas, one of which adapts to become a double sofa bed to accommodate extra guests. Tenko is well equipped with electric cooker, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, washing machine, freezer, TV, DVD, hairdryer, wifi, etc. All electricity, towels and bedlinen are provided and included within the tariff.
Being centrally situated, Tenko provides the ideal base for exploring Shetland and within one hour from your location you can be at the farthest point of Shetland either norh, south, east or west. It is very close to Tingwall airport where you can board a flight to FairIsle and visit or stay at the famous FairIsle Bird Observatory or alternatively to, the island known as "the edge of the world", Foula with the highest cliffs on Shetland. Only a few miles away in the Tingwall Valley, at the north end of Tingwall Loch, is Tingaholm the site of Shetland's parliament until the late 16th century. A few more miles and you enter Scalloway, the ancient capital of Shetland, where you can visit the famous Scalloway Castle built by Earl Patrick Stewart, know locally as "Black Paetie" for his tyranny and oppression of the people of Shetland.
