Tombane is only five miles from Dunkeld on the Sma’ Glen road which is one of the Old Wade Roads through Perthshire. This is an ideal area to be based for easy access to Perth, Edinburgh and further North. There is storage for bikes and a hose for washing down. Amulree has a wonderful tea room offering great lunches and tea’s, Aberfeldy only twelve miles with a fantastic Book Shop in an old Water Mill, have coffee and cakes while you read the papers, then walk along the Tay, Castle Menzies, (or the semi detached castle, as my late husband called it) and House of Menzies where you can try New World wines. Highland Safaris, have a trip into the hills and you can try gold panning; I could go on…….
Rumbling Bridge Falls, fishing can be arranged locally, Scottish Quads offers quad biking and many other activities all available in the Strath and surrounding area.
Ideal base for the Junier and Senior Ryder Cup, only 30 minutes from Blaigowrie where the Junior is being played and 30 minutes to Perth for the train or bus to Gleneagles( which you nust book in advance) . Please enquiry for details.
The Bothy faces South West looking across fields to hills, where if you are lucky you may see a Golden Eagle soaring. There are 54 acres to wander in, including 25 acres of mixed woodland. The main windows face South West opening on to a west-facing patio where you can sit and watch amazing sunsets and listen to the buzzards crying overhead, or the oystercatchers and curlew. If you walk along the Tombane Burn dippers can be seen bobbing in the water. You will find various maps and Natural History books for you to use, the owner lives in the neighbouring house.
