The Cottage Stein is a luxury bed and breakfast situated in the conservation village of Stein on the stunning Waternish peninsula in the North West of Skye. Two minutes walk to the Stein Inn and Loch Bay Restaurant, with its award winning chef.
The Cottage Stein has been lovingly created by the current owners to provide stylish and contemporary accommodation whilst retaining the warmth and character of an old, traditional Skye cottage. The superb location offers uninterrupted sea views, with the additional bonus of being within two minutes walking distance of the very popular Stein Inn, the oldest inn on the island, and the Loch Bay Restaurant, with its award winning chef.
The Waternish peninsula is renowned for its glorious sunsets in summer and star gazing in the winter due to its perfect dark skies. Many pictures in the local galleries bear witness to the stunning displays of the Northern Lights over recent years. Waternish also offers beach, forest and cliff walks all offering an abundance of beautiful scenery and wildlife. Very lucky people will see dolphins in the bay, more frequent visitors are seals, golden eagles and sea eagles. On wet days Waternish has several galleries selling art, pottery, knitwear and sheepskins.
Comfort and luxury have been our aim in creating our bed and breakfast. We have just two en-suite guest bedrooms, both with full height windows looking directly out onto the sea. The upstairs room has a separate seating area in front of a magnificent three paned window reaching from the floor, right up to the eaves. Two large comfy armchairs and a coffee table ensure your comfort whilst you relax and enjoy views of the loch. This room has a luxurious super-king sized bed, which can also be twin beds if required. The en-suite bathroom has a large drench shower over the bath. The downstairs room has bi-folding doors opening on to a private decking area, a delightful outside space for relaxing in the evening. Comfy armchairs are also provided for those times when the weather is less than kind. The room has a beautiful king sized bed and an en-suite shower room with large walk in drench shower.
Crisp Egyptian cotton bedlinen, luxury duvets, pillows and memory foam mattresses together with large, fluffy towels and complimentary toiletries are provided for that special stay. Both rooms have hairdryers, tea and coffee trays, digital Freesat televisions and Bluetooth speakers. Each room also has a silent mini fridge with fresh milk, bottled water and room for chilling a bottle of wine, glasses are provided! Free Fibre Wifi is also available.
Breakfast is served in the welcoming dining room. Guests can select from a choice of fresh juices, homemade bread, croissants, preserves, cereals, yogurt and fresh fruit. This can be followed by something from the cooked breakfast menu which will normally include Full Scottish (bacon, sausage, egg, black pudding or haggis, sauteed mushrooms), a lighter option of smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and a sweeter alternative, such as a brioche breakfast bun, will also be available. An ample supply of fresh coffee and tea will, of course, be on hand. Although we don't serve dinner there are a number of lovely places to eat in the area. The Stein Inn and Loch Bay Restaurant are only a couple of minutes walk away.
