The Crags first opened for business in 1852, under the name of The Shaftesbury. For the first 80 years of its life it was one of the many temperance inns in Callander. In 1952, the hotel sold its first dram, at that time the bar was situated in what is now the snug. There was one type of heavy available and one brand of whisky. In the 1960’s the name was changed to The Crags, a more relevant title for the hotel to hold. The Crags is an ideal location for a short trip away or a stepping stone to somewhere further afield, many of our guests stop in Callander before venturing further north to places like Fort William and on the the Isle of Skye. A warm welcome and roaring coal fire awaits you at the Crags Hotel
