The pefect location for your Scottish self catering holiday.
The Lodge Blackford is at the edge of the Highlands but close enough for daytrips to Edinburgh or Glasgow by public transport or car.
The accommodation is the front part of an Arts and Crafts house built in 1902. Many original features such as the wood paneled dining room and ornamental stained glass windows have been retained.
The house now has two barrier free shower rooms and a modern kitchen with new cooker.
WIFI, flat screen 40inch TV
Selection of books of Scottish interest.
The double bedroom, the twin bedroom, single room and one shower room are upstairs, along with a comfortable spacious sitting room. The large dining room with bed settee, the second shower room and the kitchen are on the ground floor.
The house is on a cul de sac at the edge of a village and has a mature garden with views to hills and fields. The garden is screened by trees and shrubs. Guests have exclusive use of the front lawn and part of the drive with parking space for at least two cars. The garden and surrounding land attract a wide variety of birds and wildlife. There are varied local walks to hills and moorland, as well as through the quiet village to woodland.
The Tullibardine Distillery http://www.tullibardine.com/
and The Blackford Village store (which stocks all the basics)
are within walking distance.
Ancestral Tourism
Guests who have stayed at the Lodge over the past two years have shown an interest in finding out about their Scottish ancestors and visiting the places where they came from.
We would be very pleased if our guests let us know if they are looking for information about their ancestors. We will do our best to help.

Glasgow is Scotland's largest city. In past centuries, many people from the city itself, and the rural areas of the west of Scotland, set out from Glasgow to emigrate to other countries. Glasgow is an hour's drive from Blackford, or an hour by train from Dunblane Station.
