The Mission Hall is a detached retreat in a wild woodland spot on the beautiful Croick Estate near Bonar Bridge (10m) in Sutherland.
What seems unassuming from the outside manages to surprise and delight on entry when you see the homely open plan living accommodation with its wood-burning stove. Steps lead from the living area up to the very welcoming double bedroom and red squirrels can often be seen scampering in the surrounding trees which are fascinating to watch.
As the estate is so extensive there is plenty to explore amongst the heather clad hills and forests that go on for miles. From the train station in Ardgay (9m) it is just over an hour and a half’s journey into the city of Inverness. Inverness Castle is set in an imposing position overlooking River Ness and the tower can be climbed for wonderful views of the city.
