The Nest is a traditional, detached cottage occupying an idyllic position right on the shore of Loch Long in the little settlement of Portincaple near Helensburgh (9.5 miles) in Argyll.
Wonderful loch views can be admired from most of the house and, in particular, from the drawing room where the bay window really showcases the vista. The drawing room is warmed by an attractive open fire and it leads through to a conservatory/sunroom from which French doors lead out to a lovely raised deck area with seating to watch the boats bobbing out on the loch from.
At the heart of the spacious kitchen is a huge range cooker that makes short work of whipping up culinary delights and the sitting room is dominated by an open fire that sits in an ornate Art Nouveau fireplace. The Art Nouveau touches continue in the hallway where there is a beautiful stained glass window and there is also a formal dining room and modern family bathroom on this level.
Two of the bedrooms (both doubles) are downstairs and a cast iron spiral staircase leads upstairs where there are three further bedrooms, two doubles and a single, that have coombed ceilings and share a handy WC and cosy central seating area.
Extensive gardens with lots of mature trees and plants surround the house and lead right down to the water’s edge where you can fish directly from the shore or simply admire the light dancing on the water.
