Welcome
Here at The New Inn we offer traditional Scottish hospitality where the spirit and character of the local people are the heartbeat of the place! Visitors are warmly welcomed by everyone and usually after a long day of exploring the beautiful countryside and coastline or visiting one (or all) of our three local distilleries, they settle into one of the snug areas for the evening to enjoy the country fayre. Aberchirder is an 18th century planned village locally known as Foggieloan which was the original name given by the Founder; Alexander Gordon, the laird of Auchintoul in 1764. It is quite a large village nestled into a hillside facing south, with the beautiful Cleanhill woods to the west and outstanding views all around.
Food & Drink
We are passionate about serving the best quality Real Ale - there is a changing selection of 5 casks more than often on a weekly basis and we also have an excellent selection of Whiskies. Great, honest home-cooking is provided by the owner who runs the busy kitchen, and everything can be enjoyed in our public bar or lounge areas. We have two log burning stoves which makes the Inn very cosy and the building is a bit like a rabbit warren having being altered and extended over the years, with parts of it dating back to 1765 and with nooks, crannies and uneven floors.
Sleeping
The Inn has four comfortable bedrooms with two shared bathrooms. Three of the rooms are petit doubles (2 have a sink in the room) and the forth is larger with 3 single beds. Each room has its own character, a flat screen TV with freeview and tea & coffee making facilites with fresh milk available for all guests. It is very important for us to let potential guests know that the age and quirkyness of our Inn means that the bedrooms above the bar can be a little nosiy, especially during evenings on weekends up until around half past midnight. Most of our guests can be found in the bar enjoying a tipple or smapling the Ales however we do have one very quiet, very petit double room available. If you would like to discuss this please get in touch - we will be more than happy to assist you.
Our Location
We are around 12 miles from the creative and bustling town of Huntly, and only 10 miles from the stunning Moray & Banffshire coastlines. We have superb access to the three award winning whisky distilleries of Glendronach, Glenglassaugh and AnCnoc which are all around a 10 minute drive away. The Speyside region is also easily accesible, as are the Cairngorms. There is so much to do here, whether it's fishing on the Deveron, visiting the many Castles, exploring the coastlines, or of course Whisky tasting, The New Inn is a great base for exploring this wonderful part of North East Scotland.
