Firstly, please note we will take bookings for any number of nights although the norm is a week from Saturday. We also provide transport for people walking the Cateran Trail.
Bamff Old Brewhouse is a charming early Victorian cottage-like wing of Bamff house, an extended 15th century tower house at the heart of Bamff estate. Converted in 2000 by renowned architects it is comfortable, cosy and colourful and retains many original features. With a small double and a twin bedroom, sitting-room with wood burning stove, kitchen, bathroom, dining room and porch, it is a perfect spot for couples, small groups or families. Heating (by a woodchip boiler), electricity, linen and towels are all included in the price, along with logs for the wood-burning stove
Bamff estate, known for its conservation management, abundant wildlife and in particular, wetland restoration project with beavers, (the first of its kind in the UK), is on the Cateran Trail, East Perthshire's own 5 day circular walk. The beavers have built dams right along the trail where it runs through the estate, and recently next to the front drive, causing great interest to wild-life lovers. The owner will enthusiastically act as wildlife guide to guests in the cottage, and on summer evenings beaver watching is a particular delight. It is also possible to help feed the wild boar in the mornings.
Bamff is also a good spot for Glenshee skiers in the winter, and visitors taking part in the many activities available in this beautiful and central part of Scotland.
For those that love wildlife, Bamff is hard to beat. The environmental conservation management on the estate over 30 years has led to maturing native woodland of birch and hazel, oak and pine, providing habitat for roe deer, red squirrels, stoats and weasles, foxes and badgers and literally dozens of species of bird. The beaver wetlands play host to otters, water voles, fish, dragon-flies and hundreds of frogs and toads. Wildlife photographers will have a feast staying here.
Bamff is a great place to come for a romantic holiday for two, or a place to bring your children and set them free to build dens in the woods or play football on the large lawn, or take them to enjoy the many local activities. The wider area also offers a large range of possibilities, from golf to white water rafting, and from riding to visiting castles. There are a number of excellent restaurants in the area for food-lovers. Glamis, Scone Palace, Blair Castle and Balmoral are all within easy driving distance. Bamff is also a good spot for Glenshee skiers in the winter, being around 40 minutes drive.
