Our holiday apartment is situated above Gladstone's Land on the Royal Mile, the home of a prosperous Edinburgh Merchant, Thomas Gledstanes, in the 17th century. The display rooms give visitors an opportunity to see how people lived and worked in Edinburgh nearly 400 years ago.
Sleeps 4. The apartment has been very tastefully furnished and is situated on two levels. Lower floor: sitting room with dining area, retaining original painted stonework dating back to 1617 and windows with original wooden shutters. Fully fitted kitchen. Upper floor: one double and one twin bedroom, and shower room with WC and wash basin.
Access to the O'Neill flat is via a steep turnpike staircase which, we regret, is unsuitable for the infirm.
Situated on the Lawnmarket of the Royal Mile, we are right in the heart of Edinburgh's atmospheric Old Town. Discover the oldest part of the city, once home to many important literary and philosophical figures, including Robert Burns and Thomas Geddes. You are spoilt for choice with visitor attractions and galleries that represent Edinburgh's rich cultural heritage with the Whisky Experience, Mary King's Close, the National Galleries, St Giles Cathedral and the National Museum of Scotland all a short walk away, as well as numerous independent shops, cafes and restaurants.
The main train station at Waverley is close by and there are bus stops close to the property
