Tradition claims that the castle's five successive families - Preston, Meldrum, Seton, Gordon and Forbes-Leith - each added a tower to this magnificent Scottish Baronial fortress. The Preston and Seton families built the towers forming the East Wing in the 14th and 17th centuries respectively.
The castle is located within extensive grounds; visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the beautiful walled garden, parkland and loch, and then relax with a cup of tea and a piece of delicious homebaking in the tearoom.
