Borve Lodge Estate lies on the magnificent Atlantic coastline of the Outer Hebridean Isle of Harris and The Rock House is one of the Estate's premier self-catering properties, along with The Broch.
Sleeping 2 people, this award winning property offers unique and luxurious accommodation for couples seeking the perfect retreat. Overlooking Borve Beach and the Atlantic beyond The Rock House is well appointed for exploring the island.
The Rock House is an intimate dwelling nestled within a garden of ancient stone and heather. With an aspect overlooking Borve Beach, it is married into the landscape, and almost appears to be part of the hillside. A raw minimalist design has been maintained throughout the interior with dark slate work-surfaces, tiled and wooden flooring and furnishings made from drift wood and natural fabrics. The accommodation is on one level and benefits from under-floor heating and a wood burning stove set onto an imposing gneiss fireplace, so whatever the weather, the Rock House is the perfect place to watch the Atlantic waves roll in through the floor to ceiling panoramic windows. If you feel like snuggling down and settling in, just draw the Harris tweed curtains. Satellite TV and wireless broadband provide connectivity during your chill-out time.
For our more active guests, there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities on and around the Estate. Our accommodation is in the Borve Valley, which is one of the few areas of mature woodland in West Harris and is a perfect location for walking and picnics. Beyond the environs of the estate, the walking options are endless.
Fly fishing for salmon, sea trout and brown trout on the Laxdale River system, a stunning location in West Harris that extends into the Luskentyre estuary and on our Lochs and Lochans is also available.
Other activities available locally include photography, bird and wildlife watching and depending on the season, mountain biking, kayaking and surfing.
Prices from £1500 per week (low season). Short breaks available throughout low season.
