The School is in a simply charming location in a small hamlet in the hills in the Upper Tweed Valley between Peebles and Biggar. From here you can walk for miles along the “Thieves Road” and enjoy the beautiful Borders views all day. For cyclists, the well known Glentress trails are only 12 miles away. There is a tea room and shop in nearby Broughton and the town of Biggar is a mere 6 miles away where you have all the facilities you will need. This house makes a perfect point to explore the rest of the historic Borders towns and this very beautiful region of Scotland. If you want to treat yourself then make a visit to the nearby spa at Stobo Castle, or visit the neighbouring Dawyck botanic gardens.
The School is as charming as the village; as the name suggests it was the local school but it is now a quirky yet traditional holiday house. What was the main school room is now a large open plan kitchen/dining/sitting room so it forms the main hub of the house. A wood burner ensures it is both cosy and welcoming and wood is supplied.
Upstairs there are two bedrooms both with beamed ceilings along with a family bathroom making this a perfect house for a family. The furniture and presentation of the Schoolhouse is welcoming and traditional and is sympathetic with this delightful and historical building.
