This charming detached cottage has an idyllic situation right on the shores of Loch Fyne, a little over an hour’s drive of Glasgow, yet amid some of Scotland’s loveliest scenery. In its own neat garden (furniture, barbecue), with breathtaking views over the loch in all its moods, the house has been most carefully furnished and equipped to the highest standards, with an open fire in the cosy sitting room, ideal for relaxing with evening drinks after a day on the water or in the surrounding hills. The village of Strachur, (3m) has a shop, cafe, and the famous Creggans Inn. If feeling energetic, you can climb in the surrounding hills, notably The Cobbler, visit Inveraray with its historic Castle and Jail, the gardens at Crarae and Benmore, explore the Mull of Kintyre, or head northwest to Oban (55m). But you may well prefer to simply relax in the comfort of The Shieling and its stunning surroundings.
