Knockdow House is a stunning B listed country house, dating back to 1817. It has huge historical importance throughout the area as it was once the seat of the McGorrie Lamonts.
Fabulously restored recently, it contains four self-catering apartments, offering a superb level of luxury holiday accommodation.
Knockdow House is located on a 6000-acre estate on the Cowal Peninsula. Throughout the estate there are beautiful landscaped gardens, ponds, river, fishing lochs (fly fishing by prior arrangement) and woodland and coastal walks, with a diverse range of fauna and flora. Wildlife is abundant, with red squirrel, otters, roe deer and large variety of birdlife, including hen harriers, buzzards and eagles. Seals, otters and porpoises are also seen regularly throughout the area.
Located on Argyll's Secret Coast, Knockdow House is tucked away in a small corner of Argyll on the west coast of Scotland and is an area of stunning natural beauty, with hills, glens, rugged coastlines, white beaches, clear waters and ancient forests.
Argyll's Secret Coast is packed with places to visit and things to do, and sailors, walkers, cyclists, photographers and artists are all drawn to this area for its natural beauty. Explore the forests and coastline by foot, bike, kayak or boat. The whole area is steeped in Highland history and dotted with ruins, castles and ancient sites.
Close by is Dunoon, which has a good selection of shops and restaurants, a cinema and swimming pool. Dunoon is of course the home of the Cowal Gathering, one of the largest and most spectacular Highland games in the world.
There is a fantastic range of outdoor leisure activities in the area, including sailing, fishing, windsurfing, speed boat tours, quad biking, clay shooting and much more.
