Here you will find many interesting independent shops and art galleries hidden along its narrow closes. Broughton House and Garden, a National Trust for Scotland property are well worth a visit. Cream O' Galloway is within a 25-minute drive, not only do they produce organic ice cream and cheese with milk from their own dairy herd, but have several nature walks, and offer various cheese and ice cream making workshops throughout the year. Slightly further afield in Twynholm is The Cocoa Bean Factory where children can participate in chocolate workshops, there are also indoor & outdoor play areas. (The hot chocolate is a must!) For the more adventurous Galloway Activity Centre on Loch Ken offer land and water-based activities. For those who simply want to relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings there are plenty of opportunities for walking, be it hill, cliff top or forest. Wildlife surrounds the farm; you can relax on the patio area and although not within the Dark Skies Park, star gazing is outstanding as there is very little light pollution. Sandy beaches are within easy reach at The Dhoon, Brighouse Bay, Carrick and Sandgreen.
