Welcome to Tigh Na Ceol - a detached beachfront retreat in Kingarth on the Isle Of Bute. More than just a weekend bolthole, it's a home away from home for guests to enjoy the calming benefits of the uninterrupted and ever-changing sea views and the direct beach access.
Just a few steps beyond the garden gate is the beautiful and peaceful sandy beach of Kilchattan Bay, popular with families and dog walkers. Tigh Na Ceol sleeps (up to) 6 people in 3 bedrooms and is available from £100 per night for a family of 4 - this excludes the cleaning fee of £49 and any third party booking fees. Please visit the link for rates and availability for your chosen dates.
Tigh Na Ceol has been recently refurbished and decorated throughout. The single-level bungalow can sleep up to 6 people in its three bedrooms:
- Bedroom 1 – kingsize bed + ensuite with WC and walk-in shower.
- Bedroom 2 – two single beds
- Bedroom 3 – double bed
Aside from the ensuite there's a family bathroom with an over-bath shower.
The main living room comprises a comfortable open-plan seating and dining area with stunning views across Kilchattan Bay to the islands of Great & Little Cumbrae and the Ayrshire mainland beyond. Patio doors open onto a South East facing deck - perfect for morning coffee. There's also a desk area if working is unavoidable, a selection of books and boardgames, a Bose bluetooth speaker and a 50 inch HD TV for movie nights.
The separate kitchen is well equipped with a 5 ring gas hob, electric oven, microwave and all the usual appliances including an espresso machine.
For outdoor meals there's a brick bbq and a folding table with 4-chairs. There's also a large picnic bench in the garden.
Laundry facilities include a washing machine and a tumble dryer (in the lean to beside the garage). There's an outdoor clothesline for air-drying on sunny and breezy days.
Pets are welcome
Well-behaved housetrained pets are very welcome. However, Dog owners should take care - Kingarth is home to several working farms with livestock in close proximity.
Tigh Na Ceol is easily accessible from Glasgow - just a 45-60 min drive and a pleasant 30 min ferry ride. From Rothesay it's a quick and scenic 10-15 minute drive to the southern end of the island where Tigh Na Ceol is located - no more than 10k.
We’re Glasgow-based and enjoy Tigh Na Ceol on a frequent basis - as does our Dalmatian, Marko, who’ll undoubtedly make many appearances in our feed! We’ve been visiting Bute for around 5 years after being introduced to it by family who also have a home there. Bute’s gentle rolling farms, awe-inspiring views and tranquil bays make it a beautiful bucolic escape. There really is such a thing as ‘Island time’ - the pace of life slows at Tigh Na Ceol mirroring the gentle ebb and flow of the tide.
