The hotel is a delightful former sporting lodge. Built in the late 1800s and owned by the Duke of Sutherland, the hotel boasts 19 unique bedrooms and many original features such as wood panelling, open fires, traditional antique furnishings, genuine exhibits and authentic paintings.
Steeped in history, the hotel has a romantic, enchanting feel which delights and excites all who enter here. Hotel owners Lorraine and David and their enthusiastic team provide a warm atmosphere and attention to detail ensuring our guests leave with a lasting impression of this charming country house.
General Hotel Information Treat yourself to a stay at the Tongue Hotel! The Tongue Hotel was originally built as a Hunting Lodge in the late 1800’s for the Duke of Sutherland. The unique character and atmosphere of the lodge has been maintained throughout, much of the furniture, pictures and exhibits you will see are original and offer a glimpse into the past golden age of Highland touring. Photographs of the Hotel in the Dining Room and Brass Tap bar depict the Lodge and subsequent Hotel through the passing ages. But this is not a museum! We are proud of this historic building yet still we offer all the comforts of modern life; elegant spacious bedrooms, spectacular views, chic bathrooms, beautiful public rooms, wireless internet access, digital television a breakfast fit for a Duke and choice of places to wine and dine! We believe this is a Hotel that you can relax in; we aim to provide a genuinely warm welcoming atmosphere, offering excellent service, comfort and an attention to detail.

Breakfast Monday - Sunday 07.30am - 9.30am Non residents most welcome Breakfast is served in the dining room. A range of cereals, homemade muesli, granola, fruit compotes, fresh fruit, juices and yogurts will be available from the buffet table. Table service will be provided for your choice of cooked breakfast and hot beverages. Buffet only - £5.00 Buffet and Full Cooked Highlander Breakfast - £9.95

Lunch/Afternoon High Tea Lunch and evenin meals are served in the Brass Tap public bar. Select from our menu a delicious freshly prepared light snack or hearty meal. Tea, Specialty Coffees and home baking are available all day.
Dinner You can choose the ambience you prefer! Dine in our elegant Hotel Restaurant or the lively Brass Tap public bar Monday - Sunday 6pm – 8pm March/April and October/November Monday - Sunday 6pm – 9pm May – September Relax in our elegant dining room where we offer a taste of Scotland on a plate. Select from our collection of fine wines, and unwind after with a coffee in the comfort of our residents lounge whilst planning which of our extensive malts you might like to try first! Children's are most welcome to dine the Hotel Restaurant but under 18’s are not permissible within the Brass Tap public bar, we offer children’s and young persons menu available plus we have lots of children's games available in the lounge and table amusement packs for the wee ones to keep them occupied during dinner! Should you wish for baby food or milk to be warmed please ask one of our waiting staff who will be happy to help.
Guests Lounge We have provided an extensive array of maps and reading material regarding the local area, activities, and native wildlife for your information and pleasure. Playing cards, dominoes and board games are also available in the lounge and Brass Tap public bar.
