Newtonmore situated in the heart of the ancient Lordship of Badenoch. The village nestles between the Monadhliath Mountains to the north and the Cairngorms to the south and east.

All are within a few minutes walk of good local pubs that serve food, and have fantastic short hikes or munro bagging from the doorstep. Fishing on the River Spey and 18 hole golf also a few minutes walk from your door, whichever stunning Where Stags Roar property you choose.
Keep an eye out for the red squirrels who like to balance on the top of the glass balcony at The Byre if you are quiet, or come to the bird tables at Baltinna East and Baltinna West.
Here in the Cairngorm National Park it’s an ‘outdoorsy' paradise. Be it fishing or kayaking on the world renowned River Spey, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, or just exploring the massive expanse of real wilderness we have to offer. It’s not all wilds of course, Newtonmore and the other pretty nearby villages have selection of cosy coffee shops, local pubs and restaurants. Browse around nearby craft and gift shops, or enjoy a host of visitor attractions in the area, including the Highland Folk Museum right here in the village where parts of Outlander where filmed. Then kick back and relax with a dram by the wood burning stove to plan tomorrows adventure.
