Dykehead is a hamlet on the estate of the Earl of Airlie adjoining Glens Clova and Prosen, home of the osprey, red squirrel, ptarmigan and deer. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and glorious scenery of this unspoilt natural wilderness on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park. Angus is situated half way between the Balmoral Estate and the City of Edinburgh - both well worth visiting.
This charming period cottage has been in the Winter family since 1860 and was originally the village post office. It stands on the edge of the village with a southerly panoramic view of the countryside to the hills beyond.
The cottage has been tastefully restored and the rooms are in good decorative order. The sitting room has an open fireplace which adds to the warm, homely atmosphere and a Freeview smart TV with DVD player, CD player, radio and wi-fi. There is also a boot room for outdoor sports equipment and storage together with a south facing veranda which is ideal for enjoying a barbeque with a glass of wine at the end of a day walking in the glens!
There is a large contemporary kitchen/dining/morning room with integrated appliances including a dishwasher, washer/dryer and microwave in addition to an electric cooker and 2 fridges. There is also a multi-fuel burning stove and a Freeview TV.
The two bedrooms include one double and one large twin bedded room with ample storage and a hair dryer. The twin bedroom has a south facing view of the garden and farmland with the hills in the distance.
The bathroom includes a 'Heritage' white bathroom suite, a separate Showerlux shower unit with Mira Sport electric shower and a heated towel rail. Bed linen and 'The White Company' Egyptian cotton towels are provided together with the use of The Highland Soap Company soap and handcream during your stay.
The cottage is set in three quarters of an acre of well maintained garden with a stunning southerly panoramic view over the Earl of Airlie's estate and the hills beyond. Garden furniture and a barbeque is provided.
Excellent for outdoor sports - Visit Scotland Walkers and Cyclists Award. Parking is available for 2/3 cars. Children over 5 years are welcome. We regret we are now unable to accept pets. No smoking policy.
Prices are fully inclusive - Electricity, fuel, towels and linen. http://homeaway.co.uk/p81696042
