The Aberdeen Standard Investments Boat Race returns to the River Dee this March, as Aberdeen’s two universities go head-to-head once more in Scotland’s longest running boat race. The University of Aberdeen will challenge its rival Robert Gordon University (RGU).
The annual boat race is now in its 24th year and is often regarded as Scotland’s equivalent to the Cambridge-Oxford Boat Race.
In last year’s race, RGU’s mixed crew of eight emerged triumphant by 6.1 seconds against their rivals. The University of Aberdeen crew last won the race in 2017.
The title race begins at 3.20pm, and spectators are encouraged to line the banks of the River Dee to cheer on the competing crews for the nail-biting event.
The race day schedule begins with the toss for stations at 1.20pm. This is followed by the second crew race at 2pm, with the alumni race at 2.20pm. The Aberdeen Standard Investments Boat Race then takes place at 3.20pm.
