The School of Biology recognises The United Nations International Day of Women and Girls in Science with a belated public lecture introduced by University of St Andrews Principal, Sally Mapstone. We welcome Dame Professor Linda Partridge, co-founder of the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Ageing and member of Healthy Ageing at University College London. Professor Partridge also holds a fellowship at the royal society and became one of the UKRC’s Six Women of Outstanding Achievement in Science, Engineering and Technology. Her lecture, Ageing Healthily discusses some of the recent discoveries made on preventing ageing in humans without side effects, from re-purposing existing drugs to understanding environment and dietary restrictions.
