In celebration of our new temporary exhibition 'A Model Education', we are delighted to welcome forensic artist Karen Fleming for this hands-on anatomical modelling workshop.
For centuries wax has been used as a material for creating anatomical teaching models and now you have the chance to create your own.
A forensic artist will guide you as you learn how to build facial musculature onto an anatomical skull. Not only will you get the chance to familiarise yourself with wax as a sculpting material you will also gain a better understanding of basic facial structure.
Karen Fleming has an MSc in forensic art and facial identification from The University of Dundee, along with a BA (Hons) degree in painting from Edinburgh College of Art. She has recently been working on 2D facial reconstructions from ancient skulls excavated in Edinburgh which can be viewed on her website www.karenflemingforensicartist.com.
No previous experience is needed.
