Following up our award-winning sell out show Austen’s Women, we’re back with even more of Austen’s brilliantly funny creations with an adaptation of Jane Austen’s first full length novel - Lady Susan. In 2023, Dyad Productions celebrate 14 years of producing and touring work around the UK and internationally, having presented their first production – Austen’s Women – in 2009. Over the last fourteen years, Dyad has created the award-winning, critically-acclaimed, and hugely successful I, Elizabeth, Jane Eyre: An Autobiography, Orlando, Female Gothic, Christmas Gothic, The Diaries of Adam and Eve, The Time Machine, The Unremarkable Death of Marilyn Monroe, Dalloway and A Room of One’s Own. Of all of these, Austen’s Women has remained a firm favourite with audiences. Now into our second decade, Dyad are returning to Jane Austen – this time with the darkly comic tale of the young, fortune-hunting widow, LADY SUSAN! Devil-may-care Lady Susan, the coquettish black widow, hunting down not one, but two, fortunes; oppressed, rebellious daughter Frederica; long-suffering sister-in-law Catherine; family matriarch Mrs De Courcy; and insouciant best friend, Alicia. AUSTEN’S WOMEN: LADY SUSAN is a darkly comic tale of society and the women trapped within it; their struggles, their desires, their temptations and manipulations - and at the vanguard, Lady Susan: charming, scheming, witty, and powerful; taking on society and making it her own. But has she met her match? Touring in 2024, Dyad return to the Regency – and the start of it all – with Rebecca Vaughan's adaptation of Austen’s first full-length work (published posthumously).
