This community performance is the culmination of the Berwick Music Series 2019, which combines live concerts by nationally and internationally known performers, educational events for those who would like to know more about classical music, and this opportunity for local musicians to perform alongside world-famous professionals.
Running from August until November, the 2019 series will focus on the string quartet, and comprise three concerts, three talks about each of the concerts and will culminate in a workshop and a large-ensemble performance. Each event can be booked separately or you can buy a series pass here. You will find more details of the performers and the programme at www.berwickmusic.org.
The piece to be performed is James Tenney’s In a Large, Open Space. This work is an exploration and celebration of the natural phenomenon of the sound. Organised and mentored by special guests from Montreal, Canada, Quatuor Bozzini, BMS present an immersive musical experience resonating round the performance space. In this performance, the audience may move around the space, mingling with the musicians and the sound.
If you are a proficient string or wind player and would like to be part of the Community Performance, please contact Mike Worboys, BMS Artistic Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
This event is part of Great Northumberland 2019 and is sponsored by Northumberland County Council.
