John S Tantalon grew up in the north of Edinburgh. As a youngster, his grandfather would relay many exciting stories to him from his time in the navy and later as a crew member on The Granton trawler boats. The one-story which always stood out was a tale of the supernatural. Slange Var (Slainte Mhath) is a terrifying nautical tale. The revelation of a ghostly thirteenth crew member left John searching for more. He would go on to discover many fantastic tales from The North of the city and relay them in hisfirst book, North Edinburgh Nightmares. His second book, released in October 2021, ventures to other Edinburgh areas and travels
In the talk, he shall relay sections from the first book, including the terrifying tale of the ghost ship The Alma and the sinister Wardie Steps. Stories present of not one but two haunted cinemas, now long gone. Hear witness accounts and chilling memories. On Portobello and its Haunted Neighbours, John shall relay a selection of ghostly events from Edinburgh seaside town, both old and new.
