To celebrate Book Week Scotland, we are delighted to bring this wonderful production, by C21 Theatre Company from Northern Ireland, to Fife.
We first meet Michelle, a young female with Aspergers as she receives her diagnosis. At 26 years old, she has struggled to fit in with the world and relives her teenage years through a series of funny, poignant and emotional flashbacks. Take That had become Michelle's confidants, mentors and best friends in the solace of her bedroom and ultimately an unhealthy obsession, with the lyrics at times taken all too literally. In a culmination of events that result in Michelle's meltdown, she is forced to learn more about herself and the world around her.
It Only Takes a Minute offers a stunning performance by disabled actress Anna Kyle. The punchy, fast paced script uses the music and lyrics of Take That to take you on a rollercoaster ride alongside Michelle as she grows up in the 1990s.
The piece is a mix of fun, excitement, uncertainty and sometimes an all too real overload of emotion - casting a light on the increasing number of females with undiagnosed Aspergers and their striffle living in a neurotypocal society.
This year's Book Week Scotland theme is REBEL - celebrate readers and writers who push boundaries, challenge norms and pave the way for others to follow. As well as nearly 30 bespoke events taking place for Fife schools during the week, we are excited to have our Families programme - with great events taking place in the evening for families to enjoy together.
Go on, be a rebel and book tickets today!
