The British Orthopaedic Trainees Association is excited to open bookings for the BOTA Educational Congress 2019.
Free event: Please note that £50 for general admission alone is a deposit and will be returned on registration at the congress for all three days.
BOTA members only event: Please note that we shall be verifying active BOTA membership status on registration.
For BOTA Members
Please complete the booking form to secure your place at Congress. The conference fee to the value of £50 is a deposit and will be refunded once the conference has ended and we have confirmed your attendance for the full 3 days. The pub quiz and dinner are extra and are non-refundable.
Please note Eventbrite have an admin fee which cannot be refunded.
There are several sessions that are only open to specific trainee grades and have a maximum number of delegates. Allocation to these sessions will be on a first-come first-serve basis. For sessions that are over subscribed, a waiting list will be kept and delegates will be informed closer to the time if they are able to attend a specific session.
AO Spine: AO Spine practical course - Limited places.
FRCS Vivas & Exam Technique - Come and be grilled on basic science, trauma, paeds and adult path in preparation for the FRCS as well as session on FRCS exam techniques.
Preparing For A Consultant: Workshops covering all aspects of becoming a consultant including job interview preparation.
Junior Workshops: Tips, tricks and the boring bits. Bring your portfolio along.
Medical Student Day: A day of theory and practical for medical students.
Orthopaedic Trauma Society Workshops: Upper limb workshops and case discussion for trauma.
British Society For Surgery Of The Hand: Lecture series covering a number of FRCS hand topics.
B-Braun Workshops: Alignment and navigation in arthroplasty.
RCSEd Workshops: Workshops on medical education and training in orthopaedics.
BOFAS Forefoot Afternoon: Masterclass on elective forefoot.
In order to ensure the smooth running of Congress it will not be possible for delegates to switch sessions once they have completed their registration form.
Please note, if you apply for a session that is not applicable to your trainee grade e.g. ST4 applying for the Consultant workshop and that session is over subscribed, a trainee of suitable grade will be given preference.
BOTA reserves the right to move delegates to different sessions at any point during the Congress
Cancellations & Refunds
If for any reason you decide you are not able to attend then you can apply for a refund up until 27th October 2019. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible if this is the case. Refunds will not be issued after this time and your deposit will not be returned if you do not attend Congress.
Social events (Gala dinner with Ceilidh & Pub quiz)
Delegates and their partners are invited to the black tie dinner at The Royal College of Surgeons. Welcome drinks reception with museum access, 3-course Scottish themed dinner in the beautiful Playfair Hall, wine (half bottle), coffee, and a ceilidh. Secure your place for £60 per person.

The social programme will also consist of the traditional pub quiz with buffet food (extra £15 non-refundable supplement).

For Medical Students
We welcome medical students to participate in Congress with specific sessions organised for you. There is an opportunity for any medical student to volunteer to help ensure the smooth running of the Congress with a certificate of participation guaranteed for all who help out. This option will be indicated when you complete your booking form. Medical students are welcome to attend all social events as well.
The rules regarding refunds are the same as above.
