As one of the most influential and revered songwriters of his generation, it is our distinct pleasure to welcome legendary Leatherface singer/songwriter back to Scotland.
Having recently emerged to play shows in Hamburg and to wow the devoted crowd at Pouzza Fest in Montreal, Make That A Take and Little Rockets Records are delighted to bring one of the most beloved and respected songwriters in the history of punk rock to Scotland for two exclusive shows.
Often imitated, never duplicated, the shadow cast by Leatherface is a long one, influencing everybody from Hot Water Music, Avail and Dillinger Four to the legions of melodic punk rock bands filling basements across the globe. It's no stretch to say that, for better or worse, Frankie Stubbs and Leatherface helped shape the punk rock world we now all inhabit.
Join us for a rare evening of story and song with one of UK punk rock's greatest poets.
TRAGICAL HISTORY TOUR
Joining Frankie Stubbs is Tragical History Tour, the solo acoustic pseudonym of Derrick Johnston, founder member of the MTAT collective and vocalist/guitarist of Scottish punk rock band Uniforms.
The fifteen-years-in-the-waiting debut Aphorisms LP was released in April 2018 and Derrick has been pretty much constantly on the road since then, tearing up the UK from Thurso to Brighton. These two shows mark the last two UK shows before THT embarks on a two-month European/Canadian adventure in support of Aphorisms.
The biography reads like Leatherface covering Leadbelly; a distillation of roots-y country/folk influences, punk rock heart and a life lived in the trenches of DIY. Aphorisms tells tales of love, loss, life and death experienced during fifteen years on the Tragical History Tour. Transformation is real.
