The Celtic Sessions/Na Seiseanan Ceilteach present
Breabach unite the huge talents of Calum MacCrimmon (pipes/whistles/bouzouki), Ewan Robertson (guitar/vocals), James Mackenzie (pipes/flute/whistles), Megan Henderson (fiddle/vocals/stepdance) and James Lindsay (double bass) and since launching their career in 2005, Breabach’s star has been steeply on the rise and they are now firmly established as Scotland’s leading contemporary folk band.
Their new album Frenzy Of The Meeting, comes after two years of hectic global touring their last release, Astar. In that time, the band picked up Best Folk Band and Best Album at the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards as well as nominations for Best Group at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards and European Album of the Year in the Songlines Music Awards. Acknowledging and respecting the origins of both the music they play and the roots of the band whilst embracing the future with new ideas, energy and belief is a key attribute of the band and an theme that is powefully conveyed on this new recording.
One of the foremost traditional singers in Scotland, Siobhan Miller is an exceptional talent. Her soulful and stirring renewal of traditional song has won her the 2018 BBC Radio 2 Folk Award for Best Traditional Track, and Scots Singer of the Year an unprecedented three times at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards (2011, 2013, 2017), whilst her two albums have also received widespread critical acclaim and both were nominated for Album of the Year at the ‘Trads, highlighting her extensive range through traditional, contemporary and self-penned material. Siobhan’s unique vocal style has been honed through collaborations and studies with many of Scotland’s top musicians and traditional bearers, leading to extensive tours fronting her own band, as well as guest appearances with the National Theatre of Scotland, a season on Broadway in New York, and on US/UK TV drama Outlander.
