The Calgary String Quartet was formed at the 2017 Mendelssohn on Mull Festival. The Festival honours the composer's visit to Scotland in 1829 with an annual week of string chamber music performed in venues all over the Isle of Mull. The Calgary Quartet are the Festival's ambassadors this year and, after performances on Mull and Skye, and aboard the Hebridean Princess cruise ship, they will be concluding their tour in Edinburgh at the Scottish Arts Club. They will perform music by Haydn, Shostakovich and Britten. There will be a chance to learn more about the Festival, and the concert is admission free, though donations to our charity will be welcome. The Mendelssohn on Mull Festival, now in its thirtieth year, is administered by Sound Waves SCIO.
