Every 13 minutes, a small group of audience members will enter a kind of labyrinth in the Fruitmarket Warehouse. They will be guided through a series of experimental, intimate, and highly interactive encounters – each distinct, yet each adding to an appreciation of the whole.
Cartography has been created by Eilidh Appletree, Fibi Cowley, Kirsty May Hamilton, Edith Hicks, Kialy Tihngang and Alys Williams – participants on the [Waypoint-1](https://www.waypoint-1.net/) mentorship project.
Before you book
Audience members should be aware that the performance involves direct, sometimes physical interaction with performers, with elements of surprise or moments where senses may be heightened.
The event is presented in time-specific slots with no intervals.
Audiences will experience the performance in groups of 4. If you book a single ticket, you may be in the company of audience members you don't know.
On our Box Office, you can book a companion ticket for free for your selected time-slot. When you have booked, you are welcome to email us if there is anything we can do to make your visit more comfortable. This will allow us to make appropriate adjustments to presentation formats for your visit. You can email info@manipulatearts.co.uk.
If you are considering buying a ticket for Cartography and have any concerns or questions, please email us on info@manipuatearts.co.uk.
If you can no longer attend
If you are unable to attend, please get in touch with us as soon as possible on info@manipulatearts.co.uk.
You are able to pass your tickets on to friends, or exchange tickets for another slot time, depending on availability.
When you arrive
We advise that you arrive at the Fruitmarket at least 5 minutes before your time slot.
As the capacity for Cartography is small, we may not be able to book you on to another slot if you arrive late.
The time advertised on your ticket is an arrival time to get you checked-in, and we have built in a minimum of 6 minutes for each slot, before your performance begins.
In this time, we will say hello and answer any questions you may have - it will also be an opportunity to meet the other people who you will experience the performance with. There will also be time to pick up a folding stool.
You will then be guided into the performance.
During the performance
During the 51 minute performance, you will be guided through the Fruitmarket Warehouse, encountering 6 new works.
The work will be a mixture of installation and live performance, with playful experiments in interaction, movement, light and sound. If at any point you feel uncomfortable with elements of a performance, please let a member of our team know.
If at any point you need to have a break from the performance space, please let a member of our team know, and we will guide you out and back in.
