A comprehensive workshop where students learn how to create a bespoke, one-off ring by making a wax carving that can then be sent away to be cast in silver or brass.
Beginning by looking at jewellers such as Felicity Powell and Carles Codina who use carving techniques, students are encouraged to come up with their own creative design for a ring. You learn the basics of wax carving methods and gain insight into production methods used in commercial jewellery. Wax carving is a fantastic skill to add to your jewellery repertoire as is an affordable and forgiving way of creating designs.
The day concludes with students having carved the wax ‘master’ for their ring. The finished wax ‘masters’ are sent away to our Scottish casting company be cast in solid silver. The silver rings are sent back to the studio and are hand finished before being posted out to you.
