The AAC is only seven years old and previously the ground was used for grazing horses and sheep. Without vehicular access the Allotmenteers had to manually create this little bit of paradise which was a huge task. It is without doubt one of the most scenic locations of any allotment association in Scotland. We invite guests to wander round and enjoy the 30 allotments which produce a huge variety of vegetables, fruit and flowers. Without mains water or electricity and subject to high winds and cold winter temperatures the allotments face special challenges, but none the less the products range from asparagus to grapes and specialist raspberries, along with the more usual veg and fruit.
This is a fundraising event for the open garden charity Scotland’s Gardens Scheme which raises money for hundreds of local charities.
