Historic Coldstream, Scotland's 'First True Border Town' is home of Coldstream's Guards, the country's second oldest infantry regiment.
Cross the bridge over the river Tweed which forms a natural boundary between England and Scotland, pausing to admire the wonderful views along the river to the Cheviots and beyond. Coldstream, as the Borders Floral Gateway Awards best large village winner 2017, will have a great variety of gardens open for the garden enthusiast to explore. Wander around and chat to an exponent of permaculture, a giant vegetable grower and numerous other garden owners who will be delighted to share their gardening triumphs and interests with you.
Over half of the gardens are taking part to support open garden charity Scotland’s Gardens Scheme which raises money for hundreds of local charities.
