The area farthest from the castle was restyled three years ago and is based on the poem Solitude by Thomas Merton. The shape is rhomboid with a central point taken from which the design radiates. Pleached hornbeam, under planted with willow. Hawthorn, holly and yew hedges are still to grow to fruition. Work on the first half will start in autumn 2017.
Over half of the gardens are taking part to support open garden charity Scotland’s Gardens Scheme which raises money for hundreds of local charities.
