The area farthest from the castle has been restyled based on the poem Solitude by Thomas Merton. The shape is rhomboid with a central point taken from which the design radiates planted with pleached hornbeam, underplanted with willow. Box holly and yew hedges are still to grow to fruition. Work is ongoing with new herbaceous border and different planting using annuals and herbaceous plants; the garden will host a further vibrant display of colourful plants within the walled garden along with a greenhouse in full production.
This is a fundraising event for the open garden charity Scotland’s Gardens Scheme which raises money for hundreds of local charities.
