Over the years we have re-instated the walled garden from a paddock and constructed terraces and raised beds with 18 espalier apple trees, box hedging and a display of red and yellow tulips. A woodland garden starts with snowdrops and bluebells, rhododendrons, trilliums, fritillaries, meconopsis, erythroniums, Candelabra primulas follow. The garden is constantly being added to, with herbaceous borders, a rockery with dwarf rhododendrons and azaleas, a bog garden by the Saline Burn, and 20 acres of woodland with walks. To keep the grandchildren occupied, Peter has built a tree house, zip wire and rope swing, though we hope they will take an interest in gardening too!
This is a fundraising event for the open garden charity Scotland’s Gardens Scheme which raises money for hundreds of local charities.
