The garden is planted to withstand winds in excess of 100 mph and features drystone walling, raised beds and a 60-foot water rill. The planting reflects its coastal location and is planted in the cottage garden style with towering allium, many varieties of geranium and plants collected from around Europe. There are wildflower areas, which encourage bees and butterflies. There is a separate walled vegetable garden and fruit cage which supplies the house and B&B and cottage guests. This year there will be a new garden housing hybrid hardy geraniums bred by Alan Bremnar. The garden is a 2017 winner of Gardeners’ World Britain’s best challenging garden.
This is a fundraising event for the open garden charity Scotland’s Gardens Scheme which raises money for hundreds of local charities.
