Be Water is a presentation of Chen Qi's monumental and immersive print installation, first displayed at the 58th Venice Biennale, accompanied by a stunning collection of woodblock prints.
Inspired by ancient Taoist Chinese philosophy, ‘Be Water’ celebrates water as a symbol of purity and a source of wisdom.
Chen Qi is a world-renowned master of the traditional Chinese woodblock printing technique, who pushes the boundaries of the medium to incorporate experimental contemporary approaches.
This beautiful and evocative exhibition offers an opportunity for quiet reflection and meditative contemplation.
Be Water is presented as part of Edinburgh Art Festival 2020, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and Visit Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters Partnership. This project is supported by the Confucius Institute for Scotland in the University of Edinburgh. The creative learning programme is part co-produced with the University of Edinburgh.
