Aberdeen will twinkle and sparkle for the 2017 festive season with Christmas in Aberdeen with events and activities for all the family to enjoy.
Visit the Aberdeen Christmas Village at its new location on Broad Street, with a spectacular ice rink and wonderful festive fairground. There will also be a wide variety of markets to visit to find that perfect gift. Browse artisan products from local makers at the FINE Christmas Food and Drink Market and enjoy a showcase of creative products from local, national and international designers and makers at the HAAN Christmas Design Market. There will also be a host of other markets taking place over the weeks before Christmas.
On Thursday 23 November, don't miss the Christmas Tree Switch-On, where musical entertainment and a carol service will accompany the big moment. Catch the Trinity Centre Reindeer Parade on Sunday 26 November, before the annual Christmas Lights Switch-on Parade where football legend Denis Law will be awarded the Freedom of Aberdeen.
Other great events to enjoy are the Twelve Days of Christmas Wooden Carvings Trail. Throughout December, twelve unique carved totem pole sculptures created by local chainsaw wood carver Gary Shand will depict the popular carol, The Twelve Days of Christmas. Don;t miss the Nativity Scene in St Nicholas Kirkyard, and the Carol Concerts taking place on Saturday 16 December. Get in the festive spirit with Santa and his reindeer, live music craft stalls at the Friends of Hazlehead Winter Wonderland.
Aberdeen's festive celebrations will end on 31 December with the unmissable Hogmanay Celebrations. Bring in the bells to the music of Banjo Lounge Four and the Mersey Beatles before the impressive fireworks display from the HMT rooftop at midnight.
