For Craicfriars Comedy’s second show of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival we have the fantastic Kai Humphries coming to Blackfriars, with opening act Dean Coughlin.
Kai Humphries is a happy-go-lucky, supremely funny and truly loveable Geordie comedian and compere, his infectious enthusiasm and high-octane delivery of genuinely hilarious and delightfully optimistic material has seen him rapidly shooting up the professional comedy ranks. In May 2010 he recorded his TV debut for Comedy Central’s The Comedy Store alongside some of the biggest names in comedy, barely 18 months after his very first time ever on stage. He has supported Rhod Gilbert and Milton Jones on their national tours and has performed in over 40 countries as part of the Daniel Sloss tour. Tipped by many to be the next big thing, catch him before he goes stellar. In 2013, he made his Australian debut at both the Melbourne and Sydney International Comedy Festivals, and over the years he has taken many solo shows to Edinburgh. In 2016 he won the Chortle Award for Event of the Year and also received the Forth Fringe Award. A self-confessed lad’s lad, his disarmingly friendly delivery holds a few surprises – not least his ability to supplement his cheeky banter with a contrasting intelligence in his material. With a genuine excitement to share stories and jokes with his audience and an engaging and intimate manner you could be forgiven for thinking you’re just one of his mates grouped together on a cracking night out!
