As part of Book Week Scotland, poet and creative practitioner Nadine Aisha Jassat will be hosting a workshop with young people aged 16-26, to explore how to use your voice and channel it into your creative output, in particular with a focus on writing for political change. Whether poetry, narrative non-fiction, or fiction, Nadine will share her experiences in how to begin approaching creative writing with a social justice impact, and help use your words to engage readers and create change. Nadine Aisha Jassat combines creative arts with social justice, and received a Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award, was shortlisted for the acclaimed Edwin Morgan Poetry Award and Outspoken London Poetry Prize, and was named one of the 30 Inspiring Young Women Under 30 in Scotland. The workshop is free but ticketed. Spaces are limited. It will take place from 11am-1pm at the Scottish Poetry Library, and all attendees will also get a free book from 404 Ink!
