“Curious Minds” is back for our 4th season! The last three season have had a great reception both from our audiences and from our speakers. In fact, several of our guest speakers have commented that Curious Minds is the best community-based Science Lecture series in Scotland!! This year, we have another stellar cast of guests from Universities and Research labs all over the country. From micro-biology to asteroid mining via children’s fashion and the enduring mystery of consciousness – we have something to stimulate everyone’s intellectual curiosity.
CRISPR technology is powerful tool for editing genomes. It allows researchers to easily alter DNA sequences and modify gene function. Its many potential applications include correcting genetic defects, treating and preventing the spread of diseases and improving crops. However, its promise also raises ethical concerns. Bruce will describe work that is ongoing at the Roslin Institute, modifying pig genomes to create resistance to viral diseases.
