28 April-11 September
RIG Arts are transforming a space behind South West Library in Greenock. From an unused scrub site, The Drying Green will become a shared space for nurturing plants and stories. Named after the communal laundry areas shared by tenement buildings throughout Scotland – the places where communities grew close through games, leisure and shared childcare. Instead of clothes pegs and washing lines, watch tendrils and vines unfurl next to new public sculptures, and a community created mosaic. This is a plot for people to grow their own produce and swap ideas, a story-growing garden hosting special events and community activities open to everyone.
Events:
Dandelion Mosaic Workshop-1pm-3pm: (7 weeks from 6th May)
Work with artist Alan Potter to create a brand new mosaic floor for The Drying Green, our new garden. Taking inspiration from local stories and heritage, you’ll decide on the overall design of one of the garden’s key visual elements – and then across seven weeks, you’ll learn how to cut and place recycled materials, working on your own and as a group to make a range of motifs and images.
Please visit Dandelion.Scot for the most up to date information about the events at the garden.
