Full day drawing skills workshop with Blake Milteer
This workshop celebrates the Museums collections by encouraging participants to look closely, connect personally, and express their responses to objects on display through line and form.
Through a series of guided exercises, artist Blake Milteer will introduce techniques to develop and refine drawing skills. Participants will explore both observational and intuitive approaches, learning ways to translate what is seen and felt into drawn form.
Building on these methods, each participant will create a drawing inspired by an object from the Museums displays. The choice of subject may be guided by an objects shape, material, history, or a sense of curiosity it inspires.
Open to all levels, from those wishing to build confidence in drawing to experienced artists interested in refreshing their approach.
All materials will be provided, though participants are welcome to bring their own if preferred.
What to expect:
Morning session (2 hours): Guided drawing exercises introducing a variety of approaches and techniques.
Lunch break (1 hour): Bring a packed lunch or visit a local caf.
Afternoon session (2 hours): Explore the galleries and create a finished drawing inspired by an object of choice.
