Facing the void of a blank page is daunting. Trying to bring the
images from our mind to life and wanting to create a perfectly
beautiful drawing can hinder our creative process. But when we were
kids, we were proud of creating the most wildly inappropriate and
terrifying portraits and scenes. There was no such thing as a bad
drawing.
In this workshop, we will take a trip to meet our inner child, and
learn to draw from them. Through the exercises, we will explore our
relationship to drawing and build our confidence in even the slightest
line that we draw.
Because creativity is a social construct, we will develop our own
through our relationship with people attending the workshop. At the
end, everyone will have created a token to remind them that drawing is
the easiest thing.
Facilitator Bio
Müge started practising art to understand themself, by giving form to
what was going on in their mind. Documentation is always at the heart
of Müge's practise, as a starting point for their creative process.
Having struggled with perfectionism and the fear of creating, they
wanted to create this workshop to help anyone who might be living the
same struggles.
Queer Youth Art Collective (QYAC) has run workshops at London’s The
Outside Project for LGBTQ young people 18-26 since August 2019. The
project delivers newly commissioned workshops by LGBTQ artists and
youth forums for attendees to discuss their practice and socialise.
These alternate weekly on Sundays .
Our primary aims are to challenge isolation, provide free and engaging
arts workshops and build skills and infrastructure for a resilient,
peer-led LGBTQ arts and education culture in London and throughout the
UK.
We currently run 2 groups: ONLINE on ZOOM & OFFLINE From The Outside
Project’s Community centre in CENTRAL LONDON.
