An ambitiously inventive Nordic trio, Dreamers’ Circus bring their genre-bending mix of folk sensitivity, jazz-tinged improvisation, and classical complexity to Celtic Connections. Mining a solid background in traditional and roots music, Dreamers’ Circus display skilful and passionate musical ability across a range of instruments, including fiddle, accordion, piano, and cittern. “They’re world class. Now the world needs to hear them.” (Sing Out)
Joining Dreamers’ Circus on the bill is Westward the Light, a Scottish folk quartet creating a new expression of an age-old sound. After years of collaboration in a range of settings, bandmates Charlie Grey, Sally Simpson, Owen Sinclair, and Joseph Peach formed Westward the Light to make instrumental Scottish music in a way both true to their traditional roots and pointing to the future. On fiddle, viola, piano, and guitar, the band’s powerful and dynamic music is reflective of upbringings immersed in the nature and landscapes of Scotland.
